Friday 55

Write a story in 55 words. Yes, you can do it. Trust me. It's much easier than losing weight or keeping New Year's resolutions. But please let the G-Man know that you came to play.

Wanting to escape, she’d planned carefully,
documenting 29 years of hard work.
And committees.
Geez, the committees.

Smiling, she felt THIS time the plan would work.
She was the right woman for the job.
She hit “Send”, ready to blaze a new trail.

Her plan came back with a note attached.

“Fax broken. Please mail.”

hope that's happy sad and i can sense the pain of that moment. i've drafted up e-mails to people that have taken forever and had them bounce back because i had addressed them to - myself!!!! d you laugh or cry? do you take that as a hint or ignore the obvious significance of it?! have a peaceful day. steven

Oh boy -- nothing like having a big new bubble of joy and confidence popped! Ah well, I hope the mail version saves the day!

Fortunately the snail mail system still works!

Sometimes modern technology can be so frustrating. I do hope she does put it in the mail. Well done my friend. Have a wonderful Friday :)

Nothing like technology to wet your powder. Has mine, many times!
You're so good at thie, every week I'm so impressed. But then again, I already knew that you were great!

I sometimes wonder if moments like that are some kind of test: for patience, tolerance and humor. Hopefully, I pass them. :) Have a great weekend!

Susan, here's hoping you're right about the mail. ;)

Brighid, that makes me feel better. See, I'm grinning again. ;)

Chef Kar...glad to see ya! Yes, slowly but surely does win the race, right?

Brian, brings to mind that "best laid plans" quote. I'll be reading you on Saturday.

Thanks Mike! And you're so right. Sometimes I love my computer, some days I want to drop kick it off the desk. ;)

Thom...she did. I'll let you know how that works out. Good weekend to you too.

Peggy, where do you want the check for boosting my ego mailed? :) I'm trying to think, "Don't worry, be happy".

And yes, some of you will be mad at me for the next couple of days when you can't get that song out of your head. Sorry. :)

Excellent 55 Hope, thanks for playing today, and have a Kick Ass Week-End...G-Daddy

Yep, I'm with the G-Man, excellent. All that build-up, the delicious "hit "Send".." and then..
I so enjoy these, and you are terribly good at them!

Dan said...

You are just so good at these Hope, you really are.

Hope all is well in your world and stuff?

Map, thank you! Hope you do the same. Happily awaiting your video debut. ;)

G-man, considering my "old fashioned" work ethic, [meaning I actually work for my paycheck] guess I should've known better than to trust modern technology.

Thank you Titus. You, rachel and Shug can remain in control of Poetry World...I'll stick to 55 words, with a warped sense of humor. ;)

Dan! How is the recently released till monkey fairing at his new place of work? I'm betting you've already answered that...I'm just getting around to "blog reading" today. Let's just say I too hope life improves on the work front. :)

I could hear the air rushing out in a long whooooshing sound. Great 55.

As for you comment on did ask for what happens next from the previous week, so I kind of stayed on topic. There is a true story behind both...except for the coughing up blood. Only the names have been changed to protect the innocent.
